Disputée dans des conditions météorologiques difficiles, cette 88ème édition de la Flèche Wallonne a été remportée par trois coureurs Ekoï. Le Britannique S.Williams (Israël Premier Tech) s'est montré le plus fort dans la quatrième et dernière ascension du mur d'Huy. A 200 mètres de la ligne, il a attaqué, en costaud. Il devance Kévin Vauquelin de la formation bretonne Arkéa B&B-Hôtels et le Belge Maxime Van Gils (Lotto-Dstny). Ekoï signe son premier triplé de la saison sur une épreuve World Tour et Stephen Williams sa deuxième victoire de l'année après celle décrochée sur le Tour Down Under ! A 21 ans, le pensionnaire de la formation Arkéa B&B Hôtels ne manque pas d'audace. Au point de réussir le coup du kilomètre avec brio et maitrise lors de la seconde étape du Région Pays de la Loire Tour. Il signe avec la manière sa première victoire professionnelle. A l'abord de la flamme rouge, on se regarde dans le groupe de tête. C'est le moment que choisit Ewan pour sortir. Etonnamment, ses adversaires ne réagissent pas immédiatement. Il prend alors suffisamment le large et ne sera jamais rattrapé. Déclaration du vainqueur : "J'ai été bon dans la tête"    

Le sprinteur italien de la formation bretonne s'est imposé au sprint pour la deuxième place au terme d'une course intelligemment menée. Il s'offre la "meilleure prestation de [sa] vie" et permet à Arkéa B&B Hôtels de monter pour la première fois de son histoire sur le podium d'un Monument.  Déclaration du vainqueur :  "J’essayais de rester le plus calme possible et de ne pas faire d’effort pour rien. Juste de suivre le premier peloton pour jouer des places (...) Dans ma tête, l’objectif était de passer le plus de monts possibles dans le premier groupe en lissant mes efforts. Et cela a payé dans le final, car dans les 30 ou 40 derniers kilomètres, j’étais plutôt bien. 10 seconds... Faster than any of his rivals, Kévin Vauquelin (22) won the final stage of the 54th Etoile de Bessèges, a 10.5 kilometre individual time trial. Archi favori et très attendu par le public local depuis qu’il a intégré la formation bretonne Arkéa-B&B Hôtels, Clément Venturini s’est, une fois encore, montré le plus fort. Malgré une frayeur au début du huitième tour en raison d’un saut de chaîne, il revient très vite sur son seul adversaire du jour, Joshua Dubau, dont il ne fera qu’une bouchée ! Être sprinteur, c'est faire partie d'une caste très particulière dans laquelle la confiance joue un rôle prépondérant. En intégrant la formation bretonne Arkéa-Samsic le 1er août dernier, Arnaud Démare a pris conscience qu'une équipe avait encore confiance en ses qualités. 5 jours après son premier succès avec ses nouvelles couleurs, il double la mise sur Paris Bourges. Dans un final houleux, il choisit de se placer dans la roue du favori du jour : Arnaud de Lie (Lotto-Dstny). Dans les 200 derniers mètres, les deux hommes se livrent un combat d'une violence telle que "le taureau de Lescheret" rompra sa chaîne et déjantera de la roue avant... Un "Arnaud" peut en cacher un autre, mais aujourd'hui la victoire revient à Démare, après deux 2ème place (en 2021 et 2022). Un mois et demi après sa première victoire professionnelle, Luca Mozzato confirme les espoirs placés en lui en s'adjugeant un succès notoire à l'occasion de la Binche - Chimay - Binche. Le sprinteur italien a eu le mérite de croire en lui jusqu'à la ligne d'arrivée et bien lui en a pris... Dans un final marqué par une chute dans les 2 derniers kilomètres et des sections pavées, moins d'une demi douzaine de coureurs peuvent prétendre à la victoire. Alors que ses adversaires semblent partis pour se disputer la gagne, les mains cramponnées au cintre, il revient de nul part au prix d'un effort violent et passe la ligne en vainqueur sur le fil. Last Marseillaise for the most Marseilles of this event“The Grand Prix de la Marseillaise is an event that is close to my heart because it takes place at home, especially since this year the Tour de la Provence will not take place. I finished second once in this race which I know by heart, and last year we won it. Just thinking about that memory still gives me chills. Yvon Caer assigned me a role: road captain, I am perhaps the rider who has competed the most in this race. And if 40 kilometers from the finish, Amaury passed the bump, he had to get in my wheel until the line. He listened, did what I advised him, and we played really well on the tactical moments. A few weeks after his stage victory at Fermo over Tirreno-Adriatico, Warren Barguil won the Grand Prix Miguel Indurain in Navarre. The Breton runner raised his arms during a small committee sprint in Estella. “It was really a tight sprint where I was behind but I had speed. As my father always told me: a sprinter he always has to do the sprint. I'm a climber-sprinter, let's say! (laughs)I'm just happy with this victory. I didn't turn into the position I wanted in the final stretch but I managed to sprint at the end. The team did a great job. After the penultimate passage of the climb, it attacked on the last lap.
