Victor Campenaerts took victory in the Tour de Louvain after a strong performance from the Lotto Soudal team. With Zdenek Stybar, the 30-year-old Belgian started the last local lap on the difficult urban course of Leuven with a lead of around thirty seconds. The two riders again attacked each other but finally a two-man sprint on the Bondgenotenlaan would decide the winner. Victor Campenaerts proved to be the strongest and took his first victory of the season. Thus, Campenaerts brings to 21 the number of victories of Lotto Soudal so far.
"As a professional cyclist, you only work for one goal: to win races. It's been a long time since I could raise my arms in the air and that really means a lot to me. As a cyclist, you are making a lot of sacrifices, but this victory is worth it. At Lotto Soudal, we are building a very beautiful project and this victory is further proof of that. And I am sure that many moments like this are to come in the next few weeks",
