The right size
To choose the right bike frame, you start by choosing the right size, which is an essential criterion to feel good on your bike.

The geometry of the frame
Whether you are a Sunday cyclist or a born competitor, there is bound to be a setting for you… But it will not be the same. To make your choice, you must therefore take into account the geometry of the frame :

For occasional or leisure practice, we will opt for a frame with longer bases, synonymous with comfort ;
Conversely, for a sporty approach, where we are looking for an aerodynamic position, we will opt for a shorter frame, therefore with a more aggressive geometry.
Aluminum or carbon ?
The two most common materials used in the design of a bicycle frame are aluminum and carbon :

The aluminum frame is particularly recommended if you practice cycling for leisure or occasionally. In slightly more upscale models, it generally offers a good compromise between comfort and performance ;
The carbon frame is the best option if you are looking for lightness and performance, especially when cycling.
Disc brakes or rim brakes ?
Before choosing your frame, you will also have to choose your braking system between disc brakes and pad brakes. Indeed, not all frame kits are compatible with both systems.

Different standards according to the executives
When you set your sights on a frame, and in order to choose compatible components to build your bike, remember to note the following standards:

The type of headset ;
The type of bottom bracket ;
The type of front derailleur.

Given that the frame is a major element in the design of a bicycle and that it can be kept for many years, it may be worth investing in a good frame and upgrading the peripherals (wheels, transmissions, etc.) in time according to your budget.
